One Dead, 6 'Miraculously' Escape Fire, No Smoke Detectors
Updated: The other occupants were "incredibly lucky they woke up," Fire Chief David Parenti. A two-alarm fire that broke out at 4:20 a.m. Friday claimed the life of an occupant. When firefighters arrived at 129 Maple St., flames 20 to 30-feet high were blowing out the second floor front window, Fire Chief David Parenti said.

Man And Pet Killed In One-Car Crash In Shrewsbury
The crash occurred on exit 26B ramp from Route 290 Saturday night. Andrew St. Denis, 26, of Stow, died after crashing his car into a tree off exit 26B from I-290 Saturday night at approximately 8:23 p.m. Preliminary investigation by the Massachusetts State Police indicate that St. Denis, driving a 2009 Honda Accord, lost control of his vehicle on the ramp and drove into the infield of the ramp where he struck a tree.

Northborough Fire Chief Encourages Remembering Firefighters Daily
During the 9/11 Remembrance ceremony Chief David Parenti said, "Keep [first responders] in mind all of the time." While victims of 9/11 were remembered on Saturday, Chief David Parenti also took time to recognize his own crew. Northborough has had six casualties in the past couple weeks, including a man who died in a fire at 129 Maple St. on Friday.

Shrewsbury School Superintendent Agrees With DESE's Mask Mandate
School Superintendent Joe Sawyer said, "The new state-level mandate aligns with our district's approach." Westfield District Judge ruled hammer wielder too dangerous
WESTFIELD, Mass. RELATED: Westfield man brutally attacks his neighbors, dog with a hammer. Adrian B. Hinds, 25, will be held for a term not to exceed 120 days while awaiting trial on charges of two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon with serious bodily injury, two counts of armed assault to murder and one charge of animal cruelty for an assault that occurred shortly past 10 a.m.
